Who we are

SLM Safaris arranges safaris, tours and transfers in Namibia. We are based in Windhoek and can be reached at info@slmsafaris.com or +264 81 813 0400.

The entity that controls this data is S.L.M SAFARIS CC (trading as SLM Safaris), registered in Namibia under registration number CC/2013/09884. Data protection enquiries are handled by the owner and should be sent to info@slmsafaris.com.

What we collect

When you enquire through this website, by email, telephone or WhatsApp, we collect the information you choose to give us — typically your name, email address, telephone number, country, travel dates, party size and what you tell us about your trip.

When you book, we additionally need the information required to make the arrangements: full names as they appear on passports, passport details where a supplier or airline requires them, dates of birth where a lodge or air charter operator requires them, dietary requirements, and any medical or mobility information you choose to share so that we can travel with you safely.

We do not ask for payment card details and we have no card facility, so we never hold them.

Why we use it, and on what basis

• To answer your enquiry and prepare a proposal — because you asked us to.
• To make and manage your booking — to perform our contract with you.
• To meet legal, tax and tourism-regulatory obligations in Namibia.
• To protect your safety while travelling with us.

We do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to, and we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone.

Who we share it with

To deliver your journey we must share the necessary details with the suppliers in your itinerary: lodges and camps, air charter operators, activity and excursion providers, and guides. We share only what each supplier needs — usually a name, arrival date and any dietary or medical requirement relevant to them. Where you booked through a travel agent, we share information with that agent.

Enquiries submitted through the forms on this website are delivered to us by Formspree, a form-handling service based in the United States. Formspree passes the contents of your enquiry to our mailbox and does not use it for any other purpose.

Beyond that, personal information is handled by the ordinary business services we use to run the company: our email provider and our accounting records. These providers process the information on our instructions and for no other purpose.

We also disclose information where the law requires it.

International transfers

We are in Namibia and many of our travellers are in Europe, the UK and elsewhere, so information is necessarily transferred internationally in the ordinary course of arranging your journey — to us in Namibia, and onward to the Namibian suppliers who will host you. Enquiries sent through this website also pass through Formspree in the United States on their way to us.

Namibia is not currently the subject of a European Commission adequacy decision. Where you are in the EU or UK, or where a travel agent in those markets sends us your details, the transfer is made because it is necessary to perform, or to take steps towards, your contract with us. We handle the information under this notice and share it only as described above. Travel agents who require specific contractual safeguards should contact us and we will put them in place.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become bookings: 24 months from our last meaningful contact with you, after which they are deleted.
• Bookings, invoices and accounting records: for as long as required by applicable Namibian tax, accounting and company law.
• Marketing contacts: until you withdraw consent, which you may do at any time by replying to any message or writing to info@slmsafaris.com.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. You may also object to our using it for marketing, and withdraw any consent you have given. Write to info@slmsafaris.com and we will respond as promptly as we can.

Cookies and this website

This website sets no cookies. It is a set of static pages. We use no analytics, no advertising or tracking pixels, no chat widget, no embedded maps or videos, and no social media tracking. There is nothing here that follows you to another site, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Two things do involve a third party, and we would rather say so than leave you to find out:

• The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser requests those font files from Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and basic request information. No cookie is set by this.
• The links to WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from those services while you are on our pages, but if you follow a link, that company’s own privacy policy applies from that point.

Our web host records standard server logs — IP address, page requested, time — as part of delivering and securing the site.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top of the page will change with it.
