The people behind the journeys.

SLM Safaris is a Namibian-owned safari and tours company, based in Windhoek and run by the people who guide it. This page sets out who we are, how we work, and the company details a traveller or travel agent may reasonably want to check.

Why SLM Safaris exists.

SLM Safaris was started by a Namibian, in Namibia, for travellers who want to see this country properly rather than quickly.

The company is owner-run from Windhoek by Sadiek Meintjies. That matters more than it sounds: the person who builds your itinerary is the person who answers your email, takes your call when a flight shifts, and is on the same soil as your journey while you are travelling it.

Namibia rewards patience. It is a country of long horizons and long distances, where the best days are usually the unhurried ones — a morning at a waterhole rather than three parks in a week. Our itineraries are built around that conviction, which is why we plan fewer moves and longer stays than a standard touring circuit would.

What being Namibian actually changes.

We know the distances

Namibia looks small on a map and is not. Our routing is built on real driving times on real gravel roads, not on the optimistic estimates that leave travellers arriving after dark.

We know the seasons

When the waterholes concentrate game, when the roads in Damaraland get difficult, when the coast is fogged in. We will tell you honestly if your dates are the wrong ones for what you want to see.

We know the lodges

Not from a brochure. We know which properties suit families, which are worth the extra night, and which look better online than they do on arrival.

We are here when it changes

A vehicle problem, a closed road, a missed connection. Being based in Windhoek means the person solving it is in Namibia, in your time zone, and already knows the lodge manager.

We speak the languages

English throughout, with Afrikaans and local languages where it helps — at a lodge, at a community visit, or at a roadblock.

We travel responsibly

Ethical wildlife viewing, respect for the communities whose land you are crossing, and no encouragement of practices that put animals or people at risk for a photograph.

Who you are actually contracting with.

Travel agents and tour operators carry out due diligence before placing clients with a ground operator, and travellers are increasingly right to do the same. These are the details a supplier file asks for. Copies of our registration documents are available to trade partners on request.
